COVID-19 & Influenza A/B Rt-PCR Testing
Specimen Type: Swab
The Flu A/B and RSV Single-Plex Real-Time RT-PCR is a real-time RT-PCR test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the Flu A, Flu B, in upper and lower respiratory specimens (such as nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs, sputum, lower respiratory tract aspirates, bronchoalveolar lavage, and nasopharyngeal wash/aspirate or nasal aspirate).
Indication(s) for testing:
- Test is used to diagnose and treat for COVID-19 and Influenza A/B
Wound Pathogen Rt-PCR Testing
Specimen Type: Wound swabs/sample
Healthcare professionals are continually challenged with the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic wounds. MAS is redefining the approach to pathogen identification in wounds with the development of six different specialized panels that can detect up to 46 pathogens at once per wound type. This level of specification combines with the most advanced technology is the first step to achieving successful wound healing.
Indication(s) for testing:
- A wound or lesion showing clinical signs of infection including local heat, redness, pain, inflammation and/or exudate
- Onychocryptosis (ingrown nail), Onychocryptosis (deformed, curved nail), Onychocryptosis (fungal infection of the nail)
Antibiotic Resistance Rt-PCR Testing
Specimen Type: Varies
The effectiveness of antibiotics has been greatly compromised by the ability of pathogens to develop antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance occurs when a pathogen genetically adapts to the drug(s) designed to destroy it. These genetic variations are defense mechanisms that can cause the drug(s) to be ineffective. Unfortunately, these variations can easily be passed to other pathogens through reproduction or acquisition. MAS has tests to identify genetic variations that allow pathogens to become resistant to antibiotics. This information is instrumental to the provider when trying to select an effective antibiotic regimen for the patient. It is our goal as MAS to offer providers access to technology that will empower them to practice precision medicine.
STI and UTI Rt-PCR Testing
Specimen Type: Urine or swab
Urinary Tract Infections are one of the most commonly diagnosed illnesses in older adults and the #1 reason antibiotics are prescribed in Long Term Care Facilities. Given over 70% of UTIs have been caused by E. coli in the past, it has been considered an infection that is easy to target and treat. However, the development of MDROs (Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms) has complicated the clinical diagnosis and the ease of just following prior evidence-based guidelines for diagnosis and treatments no longer exists. Advanced diagnostics are needed to identify the culprit pathogen(s) rapidly and accurately and rule out the presence of antibiotic resistance. We can no longer assume our first of second-line antibiotics will adequately treat our most common infections.
Indication(s) for testing:
- Test is used to diagnose and treat urinary tract infections
Gastrointestinal Pathogen Rt-PCR Testing
Specimen Type: Swab or stool
Patients with gastrointestinal infections often have overlapping signs and symptoms, which can lead to misdiagnosis. This can cause a delayed recovery, improper treatment, secondary transmission of dangerous infections, and possible morbidity if left untreated. Accurate pathogen identification can shorten hospital stays and provide targeted treatment to enhance patient care. Let this simple test put your practice and your patients at ease by getting them on the correct treatment plan in an efficient manner.
Indication(s) for testing:
- Overlapping signs and symptoms: Watery diarrhea (bloody and nonbloody), stomach pain, cramping, fever, nausea, headache, vomiting
Toxicology Testing
Specimen Type: Urine
Toxicology testing can determine the presence of a variety of prescribed and illicit medications from hair, urine, and/or saliva samples. This test helps providers increase the safety of prescribing medications, access the efficacy of treatment plans, and insure treatment adherence. In addition, advanced diagnostics are needed to rapidly and accurately identify the culprit pathogen(s) and rule out the presence of antibiotic resistance. We can no longer assume our first or second-line antibiotics will adequately treat our most common infections.
Indication(s) for testing:
- Baseline evaluation of new patient (investigate current or recent use of relevant drugs)
- Patient is not responding to treatment
- Patient is experiencing adverse effects from treatment
- Misuse, abuse, or diversion is suspected
